General

Patients and families: Call our main number at 207-707-5300 and follow the prompts. We will return your call as soon as possible to discuss what your individual needs are and to setup an appointment.

Providers: You can send a referral along with recent visit notes to our HIPPA secure e-fax line at 207-208-8775 and then we will contact the patient for an appointment.

In Maine, patients are able to see physicial therapists without a physician referral. However, most insurances do require a physician referral for coverage. If you are paying privately, then there is no referral needed. However, we do feel strongly that an integrated healthcare model delivers the best outcomes, so we will ask your permission to contract your physician for records and keep her/him informed about your care.

We highly recommend filling out our New Patient Packet documentation before your first visit. This allows us to focus more on your therapy session. The packet can be mailed to your home, emailed, or downloaded here. Our Notice of Privacy Practices can be downloaded here. You can then print it out or email it to us prior to our first session. Let us know if you are emailing it pack and we will provide instructions on how to use our HIPPA secure email server.

Please wear comfortable clothing such as shorts and a t-shirt. If we are addressing a shoulder or spine issue, please wear a sports bra, tank top, or t-shirt so we can perform a thorough examination.

It depends on your unique needs and what you want to accomplish. The first evaluation visit will be the most lengthy and require about an hour. Follow-up visits can average about 45 mins to an hour depending on your individual needs.

Simply call our main number at 207-707-5300 and leave a message at least 24 hrs in advance and we will return your call to reschedule. Please see our cancellation policy for further information.

The fastest way is to call our main line at 707-5300. When you leave a message it automatically signals our cellphones that you called. We will typically call you back in-between sessions with other patients or at the end of the business day. For less urgent messages you can also send an email directly to your therapist. We recommend only emailing through our HIPPA secure email server. Text messaging is also available through our HIPPA secure medical record system. Let us know what mode works best for you and we will do our best to accommodate.

Insurance

Most insurers will cover physical therapy visits in the home. Some commercial insurance providers have restrictions. Refer to this page for a current list of insurance companies we are in network with and who will allow a physical therapist to travel to the home. Private pay services have no limitations on travel- we will go to where you need us in our travel area.

Yes. All insurers will allow you to come to our clinic in Scarborough, just some commercial insurance companies limit our ability to come to your location. Private pay services have no limitations on travel to the home.

We feel that healthcare is a fundamental right that everyone should have access to. We also feel that your recovery should be your primary focus. If you have private insurance we will contact them to determine any co-pays or deductibles that you may owe at the time of our session.  When you call to setup an appointment we will ask you for your insurance information so we can find out the details of your coverage in advance. If you do not have health insurance or you are underinsured with high deductibles, discuss this with us and we can work with you.

Please refer to our brochure for more information about our three main tracks of service. Restorative/Traditional Physical Therapy, Maintenance Physical Therapy, and Wellness tracks have different goals and insurance coverage. Our pricing depends on what services you require. Please call us for more detail regarding insurance coverage, program details, and fees.

Yes, many times your insurance plan will have out-of network benefits. What we would do is request payment at the time of service and provide you an itemized bill that you would submit to your insurance for reimbursement. To make that process simple, there is a downloadable app that will scan the itemized statement and automatically submit it to your private insurance for a small fee-ask for details about this when you call.

Clinical

We typically work with adults who have difficulty moving and functioning, usually due to various and interrelated reasons. Some patients have pain or difficulty moving a joint. Other patients have problems with their balance and have had falls. Most patients have a number of issues that when combined lead to a decrease in the ability to do the things they want or need to do. For example, a patient may have muscle weakness, knee pain,  a balance problem, and an endurance problem which makes it difficult to go shopping. We work with you to figure out what are the primary inhibitors of your motion and work to address all of them. See the information on this page for more details on our approach.

Physical therapy board certified specialist: This is an extra process a physical therapist voluntarily undertakes that requires a specific number of clinical hours and to pass a rigorous examination to become one. Currently we have specialists in geriatrics. Please see here for more information.

Multiple sclerosis certified specialist: This is a voluntary examination to demonstrate competency in working with those with MS. Please see here for more information. At Resilience Maine,  MS is personal to us.
